Playstation 5 Has a Teardown Video and It’s an Official One

As it is not recommended for you to take your Playstation 5 appart, Sony made it for you.

This is the official Playstation 5 Teardown. Watch Ootori as he lets you take a peak at what makes this console work, by showcasing all the console’s components and secrets that will let you with a familiar relathionship towards your console as you will now know it better on the inside as well.

Easy Side Panel Removal
This is one amazing and unique feature, pretty much unseen in previous consoles. In first place, this will let you clean the fan on your own, which is always great, but what got us most exited was the easy customization that this simple mechanic allows. We can for sure expect a lot of market on that end or if you are feeling artsy, you can go ahead and customize them yourself.

Dust Catchers
Appart from all the gaming performace enhancments, Sony took a more “quality of life” approach to this console with some interesting additions like these “dust catchers”. They work by filtering any dust collected by the main cooling fan into two storing pockets that you can later vacumm without disassembling the whole console. This will also allow your fan to be cleaner, even now that you can easily clean it yourself.

Huge Cooling Fan
The “next-gen” console will surely need a lot of air to keep all the high performance components at a controled temperature. The solution on the PS5 was to incorporate a huge fan, simple. What at first looks like a double fan is actually a single double sided fan that reaches both sides of the console. It is a 45 mm think monster fan that will keep everything under control.

Liquid Metal Cooling
On top of the big fan, liquid metal cooling was added as an extreme measure. In earlier models, consoles had issues during long sessions of gameplay leading to risks of overheating and damaging components. This one should let you play for long hours without a worry.

Easy Storage Update
This is something new, from what we can see, installing a bigger SSD drive on this console should be quite a simple task. All you need to do is take off the side plates, remove the metal housing and connect the SSD. But keep in mind, there is no confirmation just yet on what SSDs the console will support.

The Stand
This is the cherry on top, or, in this case, on the bottom. One more user friendly addition for sure. It doesn’t feature any fancy utility other than simply holding the PS5 vertically. But it has more to it in the details. As they know everyone will use it for sure, they made it semi-fixed with a removable screw. And here is the detail, the stand has a small space to store the screw and the little rubber cap . And this space is covered by rotatting the bass itself, it’s a small thing but it’s what makes us all tick. And best of all, it comes standard with the console.
